Mini Vacation in West Palm Beach

We drove down on Thursday night to West Palm Beach so that we could wake up early on Friday and spend the day in the water. We rented a jet ski (three seater)on that day. Sarah, Andrew & Hannah each learned to drive it. I happen to be the only one that fell off though...not so sure how I ended up in the water...Richard was getting off and the next thing we knew...I was in the water...
(Seeing all of the big yachts and with what is happening with real estate right now, kind of makes us dream to have our next real estate be floating:-)
We also spent a lot of time snorkeling. We saw sting ray, rock fish, baracuda and all sorts of beautiful fish...and just about every shell that we picked up had a crab in it.
On Saturday, we took a picnic lunch to Peanut Island...which was manmade by Mr. Singer who owned Singer sewing machines. The island's real name is Singer Island, but since it is shaped like a peanut...it goes by that name. Saturday was also Andrew's birthday. Again, we spent all day in the sun and snorkled.

Big Cat Rescue Society, Tampa Bay, FL

Girl Scouts and families went to tour Big Cat Rescue Society...we went at noon so most of the cats were laying in their dens to stay out of the heat. We'd like to go back during the Fall and during the time that the cats are being feed. BCRS was started by a lady because she bought a bob cat kitten and when it got too big to handle, she went to give it away. She found out that she was actually going to give it to a fur farm. Over the years, her family has been able to put several fur farms out of business by buying them out. This is a HUGE sanctuary where these cats have plenty of room (though they are caged...these animals wouldn't survive the wild), toys to play with, lakes to swim in and lots of food and health care. Each of the cats have been rescued from a bad life...many were going to be used for their fur...some were going to be out to sleep because they got too big and too fierce for their owners, some couldn't perform anymore and were abused...some no longer could produce...very sad what humans will do for money! It was good to see something like this. Both of the next two cats were bought to be house pets until they got too big. This female bob cat seemed to want us to play with her, but we were told that she wouldn't play very nice.
Though the peacocks aren't part of the cat family, several of them had adopted this sanctuary as their home. This cat has the strongest pee in the world. Males can pee a 7 foot stream...our boys thought that was quite a feat and were quite impressed! No one got to close to the fence. The circus was done with him and was going to use him for food.Hannah is standing by a ball that the cats get to play with...it used to be smooth and bright red.He is a Savannah cat, the combination of a mountain lion and a house cat. We were told even though he looks so cute and little, he is very, very ferious. He was a house pet that was abandoned when the owner had a baby. She was used to guard drugs. All she had was a cement pad to call home.On the trip home, it seemed that we were in the car forever...between the Garmin taking me down a weird road and an accident on I-4...we were in the car for a while...the following are some pictures of what boys will do when they are stuck in a small confined area for a long period of time. This is our Big cat
